Speaking about the aggressivity on Twitter, I wonder why Maxis and the Gurus are still preferring that platform so much instead of talking with us here, in the safe space of their own moderated forum. That would certainly be more constructive.
I guess they like the platform.
I think it's because twitter has a larger audience. - Anonymous4 years ago

That's the risk with becoming an "official spokesperson" for a game. Which the simgurus turned into. And it's sad that it turned into this.
It's true. They did become official spokespeople, even answering specific questions about game features that are nowhere else to be found but their own replies. I never liked this because it's not accessible to people who are not on Twitter or who are blocked by the SimGurus. Thankfully, people like @simgirl1010 made a record of their interactions here. But I think there needs to be a rethinking of how the Sims team handles social engagement. - 83bienchen4 years agoSeasoned Ace@EA_Cade: If I can be of any assistance in giving insight to how to fix the bugs, please let me know. - Chicklet453684 years agoSeasoned AceThe entire issue I have with twitter is that nobody thinks for themselves, they jump on any bandwagon there is.
If someone would say "This hair style is horrible" .... 100 more people will agree and start bashing it, then what happens is someone not only agrees with the original tweet and starts bashing it too but also brings up a new negative thing (that 99% of the time has absolutely NOTHING to do with what the original post was about) and then all those people who followed suit about not liking the hair mentioned in the original tweet +50 more people now start going off not only about the original post but now the newly brought up negative issue and it just keeps growing like that.
It's the whole twitter mentality that gets me, gotta have the most followers and re-tweets, can't have their own opinion on anything for fear of one person disagreeing with it, then entire cycle starts all over again.
At least here on the forums, I feel like we have actual "discussions" and people are not just praising or bashing for popularity reasons. "83bienchen;c-18071607" wrote:

There can be a lot of reasons productivity is impacted in a company. Reasons that are totally unrelated to the talents of the employees. Are you sure they don't know how to fix the bugs? Maybe you should check out the EA job board if they are hiring. You would be an awesome guru who cares a lot to help us.- My favourite simgurus are ninja but also cade because people on the forums can feel heard. And simguruash because she was a streamer before and she knows the community well. She is pretty open about stuff she wants and that she would like to implement. Simgurupopcorn is another favourite because she shares community creations and used to stream touring simmers builds. And doi because he is funny and weird.
And before he left, Graham was my favourite too because he was generally honest even if his answers were not things I wanted to hear or it would piss off some of the community. And idk I always found him funny on streams.
And personally despite how awful Twitter is I still prefer it than the forums, reddit, or facebook. I mean I have heard stories of ppl basically getting bullied in sims facebook groups because ppl didn't like a build they posted. I've heard worst things about Instagram lol. - logionX4 years agoLegend

Yeah, I think the problem with that is that people started asking them about everything, and sometimes they responded, with answers or just hints.
I'm pretty sure they prefer twitter because it's used by everyone and you can reach out to a large number of people with just a tweet. The issue is that twitter encourages mob mentality and twitter will give you feed and followers based on what you tweet, doesn't matter if it's positive or negative. So in this case where MWS didn't turn out so great, it was not a few people who ended up getting angry, it was a lot of people, an entire mob, because twitter made it "trendy". That's the bad side with using twitter and becoming spokespersons instead of using official channels.
I didn't mind the simgurus using twitter, but when they used their accounts to tweet out information about the game that I would have wanted to know, then it was a bit annoying that I had to look for people who saw their random replies in their feed. - EA_Cade4 years ago

That's why this is the only Social Media I have any real presence on. The pressure is real, nothing like being judged by a group of people who know nearly nothing about you ? - Karamazov1234 years agoSeasoned Ace

Both this thread and the Negative thread have been shared with the Sims team. I know you want more, but I have no further information to share right now.
I just wanted to say thank you for this. I know this is a hard situation for you guys, but just coming in and saying what you can is great. You've actually been pretty great in general, engaging with us whenever you can. "EA_Cade;c-18071626" wrote:

I have actually had stopped myself from using social media for probably longer than a year. Which is why I missed certain stuff like battu and kits being announced. I only recently went back to Twitter and tumblr because I get bored and because of my adhd it's currently the only thing giving me dopamine. Like every other form of entertaining can't hold my attention long enough. In terms of twitter and tumblr I've only been on the sims side or gaming side in general so I can use it as an escape instead of getting bombarded with politics and real world issues. Because I do not have the mental capacity to be informed about what is happening around me at this time. And also been using the feature where you can mute words to avoid seeing certain tweets or discussions. And also just been blocking or muting ppl that give me even a slight bit of anxiety. Ideally I would want to stop using Twitter so much but because I find that almost impossible it's better for me to try and tailor my timeline to what I want. And for simblr (sims side of tumblr) I can find most of my dashboard filled with elaborate sims stories, casual gameplay, and builds because ppl tend to post less discussions or random thoughts there than Twitter. But Twitter is more flexible in tailoring stuff I want to block from seeing. So yeah.
For anyone that can get themself to completely cut themselves off from social media it's very freeing but I remember being so clueless about anything that happened lol. I felt like I actually lived under a rock.
