I spend probably 90% of my time making sims in CAS, you'd think it would get boring but it doesn't, the challenge is trying to make a unique one. Although you can make pretty nice looking sims if you work at it, unlike in Sims 3 which even with custom slider mods the sims still looked pretty bad, the weird facial animations were just not good and this is where I prefer Sims 4 also, they have better animated expressions.
For me, I blame being exposed to S4 first. I tried to like S3. The overall atmosphere of the game seemed so dark and bleak. Like they turned the saturation on the overall game way down. Which I didn't actually mind but S4 is just more saturated and lively to me. Cars were underwhelming, I thought they were direct control for whatever reason. The S3 sims themselves are so tragic and that's what actually kept me from playing the game further than base game when I tried it out. I can't get past how awful they look. This is all IMO of course.
