My first reaction was the resemblance to clubs. This kind of feels like a mixture of clubs (inviting sims into a specific group, choosing name and logo, unlocking perks) and werewolf packs (challenging leadership and living up to the groups values) . But with the restriction that members have to be related by blood or marriages. Just as with retail lots and small businesses there is significant overlap. After two types of apartments, stores, social compatibility, community lots with activities, herbalism/apothecary,... I can't say I am surprised.
The Q&A made them look more interesting than the trailer for me. The announced family tree changes make more sense now.
I wonder what happens if people divorce. Will they be kicked out automatically? I hope not.
I like that the UI set up is similar. It's much easier to relate to a standard way organiing things, than if all systems should look unique. The purpose and functionality will differ anyway.
All my Houses of aristocracy (I have maybe 40-50) of them, already use a club to keep track of central members. I could cheat to the max number of members, but in larger families the club system's 8 sim max was a problem. Now, with unlimited members of a dynasty, this will be easier, I think.
