Sims 4.
For some reason, the weather is more immersive for me in this latest version. I'm not exactly sure why since there are obvious things missing (snow depth, certain rain effects, sunburn, etc). The rain used to depress me in Sims 3 and I ended up turning it off. Not the same in Sims 4 -- the rain is soothing. Maybe it's the lighting, maybe it's the sound effects, I can't tell you why.
And... the customization of the holidays and events - LOVE. The way the Sims celebrate the holidays is more in-depth.
I've played for hours and haven't even explored all the features yet such as beekeeping, flower arranging, and scouting.
