Sims 4's development is ending?

Except the leaks aren't always a result of those people. It doesn't matter how secretive a company wants to be if some French retail site ends up putting up a listing for their product early or a digital service updates their software which results in various things showing up on the interface (store, etc) that shouldn't show up until later.

Not to mention you also have free lance artists who put their portfolio work up online to try and get more work. Numerous games have been discovered this way.

But sometimes it can be good marketing to leak just a hint about “maybe we will soon release a new game” just to make people curious and then refuse to say more at the time. This tactic has also been seen in the past. Just not always.

But that's not what happened with the FF15 screw up above. They clearly posted the wrong message, deleted it, and then posted a new tweet with the correct info. They then openly admitted to making the mistake but only because someone screen capped it and called them out on it. Had that person not posted that they wouldn't have said "Please disregard our previous tweet if you saw it." because the tweet was only up for about at minute before they deleted it. If barely anyone saw the mistake they assume that it's not worth drawing attention to the mistake.

But people have made it easy for the developers not to say anything because nobody have even asked them?

What? If somebody asks them if The Sims 5 is in development they're going to say no regardless if it's the truth or not.

No, they wouldn’t! People only lie if they have to. So if they said no I would actually believe them. But they will much more likely just smile and answer something like: “Who knows - you will just have to wait and see!” and then smile ;)

If they are asked directly then they have much more trouble because they don’t want to lie too much and guarantee that TS5 won’t be released soon if they know something else.

No, that's not how the game's industry works.

They won’t tell a direct lie because they don’t want to be known as people who always lie to the public. You wouldn’t like people to see you that way either ;)

So in that case they will probably try to avoid to answer the question. But that would be giving us a hint too ;)

Again, no, plenty of companies flat out lie all the time about games simply because they're not ready to reveal X information.

Now you are talking about somebody like EA’s CEO. Yes he could lie if he was asked if TS5 is in development if he would see it as important to not give EA’s competitors that information. But the Sims games actually don’t have competition. So opposite the developers I actually think that he would confirm that there is a Sims 5 in development. The former CEO did that for an earlier Sims game a few years ago when he was asked a similar question.

Ultimately nobody cares if a company lied about a game not being in production because once they officially announce said game people are getting what they want, hype starts building, and everyone forgets about the company lying about the game not being in production because at that point them lying about it has basically become irrelevant.

It is like people here just are in denial. Most of them don’t want TS5 to be released very soon if they still play TS4. So they insist on interpreting EA’s silence as something that proves that EA hasn’t even started to develop TS5 yet - and they make sure not to ask the gurus if that really should be the case ;)

No, that's not the case at all. In fact over the course of this 9 page thread I don't think I've seen a single person even suggest such a thing. Sure there are people who don't want a Sims 5 because of The Sims 4 but nobody honestly believes/thinks that just because the Sims 5 isn't being talked about in any official capacity that automatically means that there couldn't possibly be a Sims 5 in production. A number of those Sims 4 fans say things like it's too early for a Sims 5 or they can't do a Sims 5 yet given that Sims 4 isn't complete without it having certain packs like Seasons yet. Nobody is saying/suggesting that there is no Sims 5 because EA has been silent about a Sims 5. People know better than that.

Still I am quite sure we would know that TS5 is in development if only more people would have been interested in asking EA about it. If speculations about that was discussed all over the internet then somebody like Gamespot or IGN would have asked EA’s CEO about it and as mentioned above I am quite sure that he actually would have given them the information. But simmers are still mainly only interested in the next packs for TS4. So nobody really care about TS5.
