I understand, but I am only playing one couple with two children and it's the same every day, most of the time. Which makes it harder to have other emotions for different challenges or events as they always feel passionate/flirty because they were near each other. Maybe if they make it happen less often then it would be fine.
Where are they getting the sentiment from? Maybe be less romantic and have no dates, the sentiment should fade in a couple of days. You can see the sentiment and how much there's left when you click the sim profile.
They are a couple who are married so they will go on the occasional date, but it has been a long time since they have gone on a date, they are not romantic all the time either. It's just not realistic to have the 'passionate' emotion every time they are near each other when on family outings or hanging out with friends when they are only occasionally romantic to each other.
I don't mind it when it makes sense, I just wish it was less often as it's every day without having to worry about never making the married couple romantic to avoid this error, which isn't realistic either as it's nice for them to be romantic sometimes.
