Oh. My. Word. First the complaint goes out that Sims take too long to eat. The devs 'fix' it, now players are complaining they eat too fast? Is there a happy medium, peeps? I mean, really. Make the best of it. Place the platter of food on the table, have your Sims sit, then have them grab food at the same time. Oi!
I find that quite tricky to do. The sim doing the cooking often grabs their own meal the instant they put the dish down and they will often finish their meal by the time other sims have arrived for theirs.
I also find conversations over food can barely get started as they are up washing dishes.
The complaints both ways are valid, IMO. Its like someone asking turn music up a bit and so they then turn it up full volume. Balance in video games is a thing and I don't think the sims devs should be immune to criticism of the lack of balance of many of the game's mechanics.
Sorry if I offended you. I get annoyed over the constant complaints over things trivial. Keep smiling, keep your head up, it's all going to be okay. - moderateosprey4 years agoNew Spectator

Not offended at all! :) Was simply disagreeing! Sorry my response was so blunt :) - paigeisin54 years agoNew SpectatorI just use a mod that keeps Sims seated after they inhale their meal. This way the fam can socialize for a few minutes, raise their socials and act as if they're a real family. I don't understand all the fuss folks are making over this issue when there are so many mods that allow the player to tweak the game to match every player's gaming style. I would much rather use a mod than depend on the teams to make these kinds of changes. When the teams made the changes to our Sims's eating habits; they, supposedly, also changed how long it takes for our Sims to shower, bathe and prepare the meals. Funny, I haven't noticed any changes to showering, bathing or food preparation. But I dislike the speed at which my Sims eat. And with all the hype over the recipes in this game, that are made with ingredients our Sims grow themselves, it's a bit of a waste to see all their hard work not being appreciated more. But we get what the devs give us. Even if we didn't ask for some of those changes in the first place. I thank my stars we have a great group of modders, or I would have quit Sims4 long ago. Do I want the devs to change it again? Heck no. The word 'moderate' doesn't seem to mean much to the devs. It's either too much or too little, there is no such thing as a middle ground in their world. :/
- Ziafar4 years agoNew Adventurercoolspear mod still works. The Sims will take 8 bites. But the mod interferes with the new Rapido meal service. If you buy a meal for them you can do nothing with the bag except put it in your inventory. I do not know if it will also interfere with the Country Living groceries service. For the moment it is more important for me to have longer meals than to have the Rapido service so for the time beeing I keep the mod.

You nailed it! - It would be nice if they had a work around. Like two different eating options. Maybe "have family meal" where the sims eat slower, and then just regular eating which is faster for needs purposes.
- Ziafar4 years agoNew AdventurerThat would be great!

The issue is really time management. If you know you will need to cook in the morning, you wake your sim up earlier. If you don't want to wake up earlier, you can cook the night before or even two - three days before. My sims always have leftovers in the fridge, there is never the issue of no time to cook. And if your sim must eat in the morning surely they need to wake up early enough to do so otherwise we might next see that sims don't need to feed anymore because some people couldn't feed their sims before they went to work.
I have no issues with time management (beyond those I create myself). My issue is food cooking time = too long, eating and socialising time = too short. Most people seems to be pleased with the current settings. I, adly am not. I could wake up a Sim and cook early like you suggest, and then I'd still have to make sure to delay and give everyone else a chance to grab a plate at the same time. Oh well. - alanmichael14 years agoSeasoned HotshotI'm glad about the fast eating, the slow tempo was extremely boring. I see the problem with family dinners, but my Sims - after having finished all the hugging-with-plate-in-the-hand - usually stay at the table and chat as long as I want.
