I wouldn't necessarily call it girlie but I would say it's a little wimpy and juvenile.
Somewhere down the line EA decided it was a game for teen girls but then they decided it was a game of culture and after that they decided it was about being inclusive. The result of what we have today is how EA has interpreted those things. So I think the reality is that the game has had a form of identity crisis along the way, whereas previous games knew what they were trying to do.
I wouldn't mind seeing some more "masculine" content (like Werewolves!) and more variety of CAS styles for male Sims. I'd also really like some more cheeky humor that isn't all poop jokes or dad humor and a little more challenge to the social aspects of the game.
