Try clicking on the computer and see if it has an option to turn a mood on/off. I've never gotten the one from the Science Career but the one from the tech/writing career does have an option to turn the mood on and off so if the science career computer puts off a mood it should have the option to turn it off.
Otherwise have you tried shutting the game down completely and restarting it? If that doesn't work try repairing the game. If that still doesn't work then maybe try taking every thing out of the room and putting it back in one at a time to see what decor is causing it.
Do you have any collectibles in the room? The elements and some of the other ones will put off a focused mood.
