A tile is about a meter or a yard. But yes, some things can be scaled up or down. The is extreme jumps, but still handy. For exact scaling, I recommend the T.O.O.L mod.
I'm assuming by "trailer" you mean trailer home. I've made one that works quite well in game! I based it on real ones, then made it the 'older-fashion' type. I think it is 5 or 6 tiles wide. If it's 4 or 3, then may as well be a WW2 submarine. :D
