Singer/Songwriter As a Career?

Maybe that person had a mod for it?

I do have a singer in my rotation, but it isn't a real career. She is registered with the Ministry as self-employed and I have her practice singing and playing guitar in public and doing karaoke. She records 'songs' on that media thingy from Get Famous and is signed with a record label for publishing them, so she earns a little money in daily royalties.

Like elanorbreton said, it's either a mod or the registered with the Ministry of Self-Employment.

I used the self-employed option to make a sim be a movie music composer. Her husband is a screenwriter as well.

It's probably that he used the singing skill to write & liscense songs until the sim was famous enough to win for one.

One of my sims is a singer/songwriter and he has won a Starlight Accolade. I don't have mods or anything. I have another who was nominated but never won.

I gave him a custom career title. I just made him write songs until he won one. I don't know how hard it is to win, mind. Maybe he got lucky. :smiley:

I've never seen a Sim win a Starlight Award for singing. I do however wish there was a singer career, it just seems like a pretty severe oversight that there's not some kind of support for them that should have come with the fame EP. I miss the good old days of TS1 where you could pick between Singing, Modeling, and Acting to become a celebrity. Those career trees were an absolute blast and really added a unique way to become famous. That needs to come back - acting sort of did, so I appreciate that, but there just needed to be a tree for singnig since Singers IRL are like half of the major celebrities in this world.

I have used Sacrificial's Road to Fame which works in conjunction with Get Famous. Recently, I've also found a mod called Showtime by KS that makes it even easier for a singer to rise in fame. I had my Rock Star go into films as an actor and he won an Accolade, but it's just not the same. I wanted him to win for his first love, music. Road to Fame allows for in-person concerts, too.

With Road to Fame, he can gain modeling skill and then is invited to a photoshoot so he can be on the covers of a magazine.


I'm just trying to find a way for him to receive an award for his musical contributions. He has nine albums released. Three songs he has licenced. When someone suggested their Sim was a singer/songwriter and that they won for "Best Song", I was seeking a way to achieve this.

Thank you, ALL, for your responses. I will see what happens now that he's at the top of the Entertainment Musical branch career. He is a Global Superstar. If that doesn't work, I'll have him leave that career and instead of registering him as a Rock star, I'll change it to singer/songwriter and see what happens. ;)

I would have thought it would be for a sim who wrote and licenced a song in the mailbox. You can also make songs/music using the production desk thing, and my sims have won Starlight Acolades sometimes from that.

I had my Sim doing that, too. It got to be such a hassle in the long run. He worked for a very, very, VERY demanding label and I as a player just couldn't keep up. That plus the fact that his music was being played at various public facilities. Yet, he never got the nod. HO-HUM. I'm trying different avenues. I would similate an Award Show, but I'm not even certain I could pull that off. Plus, the suspense wouldn't be there.
