Yep this is most likely it; just like if the pack would have been set in the Alps or Montana or whatever. My guess is that even with Seasons the upper mountains will always have winter, just warying between freezing and blizzard, and the lower lands will have a Windenburg-ish climate so snow and cold in winter, and summer heatwaves.
