So what exactly is the point of TS4 on Steam?

So.Origin is horrible. At least for me. Everytime I start it up it gives me some windows error. It also lags my computer when starting up and prevents my computer from logging off. I owe pretty much all TS4 eps except for this starwars thing as I hate scifi.

So today I found out that Steam was having a TS4 sale. 5 Euro's for basegame. I figured: "Well in that case I can finally get rid of Origin and just use steam.". Imagine my surprise when I bought the Sims 4 on steam, installed it, and it telling me to download origin to play it. Eh what?

So what's the point of Steam selling it then? Obviously I already asked a refund. Isn't Origin basically just the same thing as Steam but for EA games? The Sims 3 on Steam works fine without Origin so..

    Yeah, I noticed. I lost some of my disks so I looked into repurchasing 3 when there were discounts on it, but I haven't seen any in a long time.

    A Possible reason is because they use an EA account for the Gallery? Idk I am not sure if when you bought the game in Steam if it requires you to create an EA Account.

    This probably has a lot to do with it.
