I agree...everytime I try the more “lucrative” opportunities, followship plummets dramatically.

I guess they (the devs) see it as a trade off, like you got 3000 simoleons but lost all followers... Maybe it's just laziness.

Like the ask if mermaid social that came with Island Living, I always get the same answer and a negative relationship hit. Never use it ever now.
Or if your sim is a vegetarian and evangelise it to another sim, they say they will give it a try and then usually ends up eating a steak anyway. Nothing of substance and nothing matter.

Btw, since you play with the social media career, have you noticed a discrepancy with the way the display followers? In some messages they write out say 100,00 and sometimes 100? So strange.

I think I had a sim advertise something like all of three times and never did it again. I heard that having high charisma helps in advertising, but Ive only gotten negative results from it. I kinda like my popular sims having their many many followers. I get why its there, but I would like it if sometimes you gained followers from advertising a product.

I'll check Dirk's Charisma, if he hasn't maxed it, I will max it and try the advertising again to see if it will work. Just seems weird that the way he got followers were advertisers asking him to make videos. And now that he advertises on social media he loses all his followers.

I think it's there because the internet personality branch in social media career has lower pay than PR branch.
It's main purpose is to earn extra money by sacrificing some of your sim's followers.

Well, it's a feature from City Living. Get Famous offers a less follower sacrificing way to earn money by making videos and mixtapes with media production skill.

I had my actress sponsor a product and also lost 500,000 followers! It has taken a very long time, sim time, to get her rep back up to speed. I'll never do that again. :p

Yeah that's a pain. The other one I dislike is when your sims have a baby and then you get the random event that the writing on their birth certificate fades. After that it's impossible to get it back so you can read it anymore. I have llots of kids in my sims families and I like being able to read the certificates and see who each belongs too.

Or when Kleptos still paintings that were paint by reference and you can't get it back. Had my sim paint a picture of his mother, who later died, couldn't get back the painting after a klepto visited :(

Things that aren't easy to get back shouldn't be taken away in random events, followers included.

(I got a bit off topic there haha, but I was thinking what else shouldn't be lost like that)

Agree that unique items should not be stolen. I have old paintings like that in many homes. Btw, you can buy the Observant trait to e able to read all 3 traits when greeting a new sim - might help to avoid kleptomaniacs.
