(solved)Accidentally deleted my very first sim from the library

Okay, so I'm not sure if this should be in a different thread, or over at AHQ, but I figured this section was a safe bet.

I deleted my very first sim from the library today. I didn't mean to! There was some sort of glitch where she was appearing like five times in a row, so I thought way back when I first created her I must have saved her several times (in case of this very event). BUT I hadn't done that. It really was just a glitch, because I couldn't find her in the library again after that. I didn't delete all of the weird glitch copies, but one of the ones I deleted must have been the original.

Now, in my game, she's passed on and is a ghost. And I know that there are ways to bring sims back in game, and I could get the book of life or make ambrosia, then save her to my library. But none of my sims have the skills right now (maybe there's a way to cheat to get them up?), and before I spend all my time trying to get her back by playing the game, I just wanted to know...is there another way? Because what I haven't told you yet is, surprise! I backed everything up a month and a half ago when I switched computers. So I know I still have her somewhere but I don't know anything beyond that (really not so much a computer person  ), but I know she's around.

Is there a way I can get her from my back up and onto my main computer? Is it at all possible that I could upload her to the gallery from my game on my old computer (I think she passed away before the computer switch, so is a ghost there as well, but I don't know how the library works or if she'd still be on that one), then download her on my current one? If none of these work, just let me know and I'll get started on my ambrosia skills. :D

Thanks everyone!

Edit: thanks for the help, you guys are absolute life savers! My sim is saved from the netherworld of lost computer things, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts! ♥️

  • I would start off by saving your sim's ghost in your gallery as a backup.
One way to bring a ghost back to life is through Ambrosia, a dish you can prepare ingame that brings sims back to life.

If you want to rush to this, you can cheat a sim's Cooking and Gourmet Cooking skill level to 10 in order to be able to make Ambrosia. I would recommend doing this on a new save so it doesn't potentially alter anything in your current save. Hence wanting to save the ghost to gallery.
The page for sims cheat codes:

Seeing as this is to bring back your very first sim, I wouldn't feel bad about using cheats in this case, if it is something you might be concerned about. Just remember to use a new save to avoid doing anything to your current that might change things you'd rather not see happen. Like doing a backup of a file.
  • I'm sure people probably have rooms or something with ambrosia in them on the gallery. Otherwise you'll need the tray file from your backup (documents > electronic arts> ts4> tray). Drag the existing one out to your desktop temporarily, put the backup in its place, do whatever you need to do in-game and swap the folders back again if you please.
  • Thanks a bunch! This is a ton of help. @Samsonguy9000 @Cupid

Definitely creating a backup save first just in case ?

To be clear, if I just use the new save to get my sim back and save her to the library, could I then delete the new save without issue if I don't need it anymore? It wouldn't change the library?

Deleting the save wouldn't be any issue.

Can confirm. I've saved more than one lot to my library with at least one plate of food still there. Makes for a nice find when I later put that lot into play and my sim who just moved in finds free food for the taking.
  • I always upload my favourite sims to the gallery so that if I lose them from my library I can always download them again.
