I think I (mostly!) solved it!! It's weird because in some areas my Sims look really bright but in others they look just fine. I'm using my TV headed darling Lettie here as an example. The game seems to mostly have trouble with shades of white, LOL, but I'm going to keep playing with the lights in the house and hopefully I'll figure it out so they always look good.
