Someone, help the baby!

I have a toddler who is tired, hungry, and bored to death. Issue? The mom is busy doing whatever, and each time I try to feed it, the husband takes away the food. Once, he took it and ate it! Another time, they were trying to put the child to bed when he had to pee. Please help me, this is awful! How do I get the parents to quit ignoring the baby's real needs?
  • First off, ditch the highchair, it has never worked properly from day one. Have a parent fix a family meal, leave the meal on the counter. Direct the Toddler to grab a serving. Better still have the parent 'call to meal'. Kid will come on their own. I think if you can take the family back into cas.fulleditmode, you should be able to change their traits. Having the Family Trait is helpful. You can also direct the Toddler to sleep in their bed. If the kid can get up to level 2 in Potty, they can take themselves.

It can be utterly frustrating when parents don't act like one. Just be gentle with them, they're new at this, too. :) Hope this helps a little. Best of luck and happy Simming.

Can the toddlers reach the counter? I always assumed they couldn't, and moved the meals to a coffee table so they could get to them. Good to know!
  • If you change the toddler's trait to independent they can go to the potty on their own from the start to make it easier

They can reach. The food automatically ends up in their inventory unless they choose to sit by that counter.
  • Just place the platter of food on the counter and call everyone to eat. Kids and older will sit at the table but toddlers can't use dining room chairs that need to be pulled out. I place a dining room chair close to the table and the toddler will use it to sit then take the plate of food out of their inventory. They can then take part in the conversations while everyone is eating and aren't left out. Just be sure to check their inventory for dirty plates and they don't always leave the empty plates where they can be easily found. I had one toddler who would stash her empty plate on the highest shelves in the house, usually behind decor items. Sometimes I wouldn't find a plate until the green cloud appeared. I hope the teams have fixed the issues we have had with the highchair now that the infants will need to use one while being spoon fed. I use three mods that forces family members to sit at the dining room table, keep the family seated after finishing their meal, take longer to eat their meals, and gives the family more time to bond as a group. Those mods also help to keep the family seated while dining in a restaurant without wandering off to chat with other Sims on the other side of the lot. There are other mods that end that constant hassle caused by the parents not leaving the toddler alone long enough to complete a task. I know some players don't want to use mods, but sometimes mods are the only way to stop the insanity whenever certain interactions disrupt the flow of the game. Tuning mods, like the ones I use, are package files and don't rely on a script file to work. The only drawback is that some mods must be updated when a new patch or update is released. I am currently using 73 tuning mods and I'll never go back to playing an unmodded game. Almost all of the mods I use were created by one mod creator. Which helps to keep mod conflicts from occurring. And makes the mod updating go faster.

I could ditch the high chair... As for the food, the family's real meals are bottles of potions. The little man, however, is not old enough to drink them. Poor magical kids never get to have any fun... They should change that as well. Wondering if it would be just as easy to use delicioso, or whatever that food spell is called, and let the baby eat it?

Delicioso combined with the indirect casting is wonderful for feeding toddlers. Pop a spell in the middle of the nursery and they're all set.

It's one of my go-tos when playing spellcaster families... which is my default.

If you have Get to work then this is what I used for my 100 baby challenges. It is an open fridge, I have my sim make a whole lot of servings and put them in there. The toddler will grab one without you even telling them when their hunger gets low ;)

You would be astounded at what they can reach. I've even seen them place their empty dish way high up on the top ledge of the fireplace! Try it out and you'll see for yourself. These little Sims are a cagey group. LOL
