I don’t know, I own everything and yes it’s a big game now, and yes there are parts of packs I haven’t played yet after owning them awhile and parts of packs I just haven’t played in a long time but to me that’s longevity. It gives me things to look forward to, and endless story options to explore and discover. I disagree about people not enjoying TS4 years later. I know I will. From what I have heard so far TS5 will likely not be for me if the rumors about subscriptions and online multiplayer are true. I own TS3 but never play it for more than an hour every few months to “give it a chance”, but I find the sims to be really ugly, I’m not crazy about the graphics, and the colors seem dull and muddy.
It’s all subjective I suppose. Some of us will still play TS4 years from now and enjoy finding things we either forgot about or never discovered, others won’t. They will move on to other games as some likely did when TS 1,2,&3 ended and never look back. I find it strange to spend so much time tearing down a game you admittedly haven’t played in 4 years. The game has evolved in that time and plenty of people must still love it because otherwise they wouldn’t still be making and improving content for it.
It may have started off as an empty shell, but time has in fact passed and not it’s not TS 1, 2, or 3. It’s definitely its own game with its own quirks and foibles. They’ve made improvements and continue to make improvements and there’s room for yet more improvements still and I for one am fine with it. I still very much enjoy it and am frankly in no hurry for it to end. I have a middle of the road gaming pc and it still runs the game like a champ. Loading screens are around 30 seconds. The game runs smoothly. The graphics are beautiful and the colors are bright and cheerful. I look forward to to my “me time” with game and play every chance I get.
