When I first installed the Sims 4, there was so much missing, and I could see why simmers were upset. I stopped playing because it was incredibly underwhelming.
When I came back, a lot of things were patched in, and I got myself a few game packs too. I still loved the extra things they sometimes add in with patches.
But yes - it's becoming a bit too much. While I am happy effort is put into listening to the community and added to the game, it takes away from one thing that is terribly lacking - in-depth gameplay. Every update is just surface level fluff to make the game look nice. Like dangling pretty trinkets and shiny objects in front of us and we forget what needs fixing. It's like putting a pretty dress on a mannequin in the store-front, yet window shoppers don't notice how poorly stitched together the dress is.
All the pretty packs and updates, build/buy and CAS content in packs make us look away long enough to not notice the the poorly stitched game.
The only updates I really want to see is consistent base game updates that refine the game play and add the depth we're all looking for. We got our bunk beds, give me want, fears... etc. :)
