I believe it is two whole years, spring to winter twice over. I am currently playing with the aging off because I want several of my Sims to experience the high school years, then all age up together.
I had one Sim graduate early. At first she got a notice that she had dropped out, but then she got another notification that said she could attend college early. I moved her out of the household to put on hold because the other teen I had in the household is going to go through the entire experience until graduation.I looked at the calendar today and there are no more school events listed after 2 weeks time, so it's almost over. It is pretty long and grueling.
