Sooo Why cant unplayed sims make their own decisions (Marry,Children and Dating)

Im having this problem, So in my game I have 2 or 3 familys that I play but all the other familys are dying out... Is this just my game, can anybody tell me if maybe its my settings? I just want the s...

@hmae123 Thanks for the insight into another play style and the pics.
I truly hope they add some story progression, but with the choice to turn it off for those who have a different gaming style.
