Spear fishing?

Hi everyone!
Just wondering, how does spear fishing work in this game, and to what extent is it available? I see that Island Living has a spearfishing gun, but I can't find anything online about how it works, and it's hard to find pictures of non-CC spears.
Could anyone point me to a picture of a sim using the IL spearfishing gun?
Does it work the same way as basegame fishing, other than using the spearfishing gun object?
Are there any handheld spears in the pack (or in other packs)?
I don't mind using CC if I ever make the spearfishing sim I'm thinking of, just curious about what's in the game already.
:)

@Starfree Wow that would be sad if they had all those activities "in the pack" but they were just rabbitholes...

I agree @mightysprite. Those would be some fun things to do on Sulani.

@PenguinFoop just remember you need to click on a *red* buoy, they're the only ones with the option to buy gear.

    Okay. Thanks!

The game isn't going to turn into a fisrt-person shooter. And given how tame the game is, I don't see being able to even watch an animal getting shot. So how would it work without being a rabbit hole?
  • @PenguinFoop maybe not the spearfishing, but the underwater photography, treasure hunting & other non-violent activities woyld be nice.
  • There was spear fishing in Sims Castaway. Don't think it would be an issue to have it in TS4.

Haha I don't even like first-person shooters XD
I wondered if maybe it was something like the regular fishing setup but holding a different object and animation. Or maybe you'd have to be standing in the water rather than having to be at a fishing spot.
  • Another great fishing option are the fishing traps (especially while living on Sulani), as once set they catch a few fish per trap overnight (plus treasure, at least on Sulani). They are portable, so you could also take them somewhere else and camp overnight. You do have to stay on the lot (no loading screens) though, else they unset. They seem to catch fish in the early morning, like when plants grow. If you have a stocked pond on your home lot (or a Park etc), you can also use them there.

You can also fish from the canoes on any body of water.
  • Spear fishing is done by deep water bouys. There’s one near Mua Pel’Am and St. Taz. The interaction is a rabbit hole.

Fun fact: Sims with the Child of Ocean trait will release the fish from your traps if you aren’t looking. It gives them a positive moodlet.
