this one isn't a special npc one, but there's also a hidden trait for a baby being conceived in the lighthouse in brindleton bay. i actually had a lot of fun trying to get a sim with both 'father winter's baby' and 'lighthouse conception'
the 'sulani mana' trait (the one for elementals) is acquirable in several ways:
1) a sim with the 'child of the islands' trait can eventually prove to the elementals that they care enough about the islands and their cultures to earn the trait (this takes a while, but brewing up some kava and inviting 2-3 friends over just before summoning the elementals helps,t hen just keep offering kava)
2) managing to have a kid with one of the elementals, which means bringing them back to life somehow
3) cheating the hidden trait onto a sim (i've done that with a few that it just seems so fitting for, like a shamanistic type of islander spellcaster)
it is nice that 'sulani mana' carries onto offspring. i kind of wish the 'father winter's baby' one did, or a diluted version of it, at least
oh, there's another series of traits you can get with spellcasters, too. unless you cheat the 'bloodline' traits onto sims, it'll take a while to get them into your game, though, as it takes several generations of knowledgeable spellcasters having kids with more spellcasters to get even the weak magical bloodline hidden trait. the most powerful one is 'ancient bloodline' and i've cheated that onto all my sages, since they're immortals of various sorts
as for the grim thing, you can 'romance' grim, but he works like ghosts in that he's unable to have kids (even though he's just got the standard set of male hidden traits. the grim reaper trait seems to override that). there's a chance your friend got a glitchy reaper or made him playable (which glitches him somewhat)
Awesome information! Thank you!
I accidentally stumbled on the bloodline thing in my current Berry Legacy Challenge. I first saw a "weak bloodline" around gen 6 or 7 and then "strong bloodline" for generations 8 and I am currently on Generation 9 and expect to see Ancient bloodline by the next child. This is all accidental as I don't play too much with magic in this challenge but treat it more like a trait like hair and eye color.
Gosh curious what a PATCHY kid would look like!!
