@kremesch73 The simplest explanation I can think of is because we also get things for free, which started with TS4, right? In theory, that means that anything one particular player wants could possibly be added in a free update. I expect there to be lots of paid expansions (whether EP, GP or SP) that will add lots of content, it's just hard not to speculate on what might be added for free. Or what we feel should be added for free.
What I feel should be added for free are basic staples, IMO. There are plenty of threads stating what we all think those should be. As for build items and Expansion ideas, I'm only willing to play for them if I want them. In all honesty, I don't really play S4 any more, but when it comes to building, I prefer it over all other Sims games. I'm in love with building in this game, which may or may not be obvious.

Anyway, back on topic since it's about the starter home challenge ;), I have to say you truly master the art of building starters, mine always end up looking cheap (which they are, of course). Though, I have to admit, the second one you posted, the one with all the white - should I use it, I'd definitely recolour, but that's a matter of taste, white is just not my favourite colour.
Thank you. I've been building small homes ever since S1. It's always been my challenge to build the smallest possible home that is still fully functional while meeting every sims needs and not causing routing issues. I find it fun for some odd reason. Big homes are really more of a challenge for me, especially with having the limited content we have right now. I just don't know how to clutter up a room without cluttering each one with the same things.
As for my white home. To me, modern is generally a 'clean' look. I have no qualms about any one changing anything in these homes. I only do it for fun.
Anyhoo, I said I was bored today and I wasn't kidding. After my
Mini Victory, I started thinking of the ugly home with yellow walls I grew up in—located in the Great White North. We were a family of 6 (only one boy) with only one bathroom. Good times. Back in those days, it seemed like no one had any colour sense. Either that, or it just didn't suit my taste.
Needless to say there aren't enough 'tacky' items (or spoon collections) and colours in S4 (not that I really want them). So, for this project, I decided to shrink down (and re-arrange) my original home and stick with the traditional oranges, reds, and browns of that era. I have to admit it looks a lot nicer than the real one, and it also reminds me that we really need swing sets (or an old tractor tire on a rope): That 70's Home
