There is no story progression. However, the MCCC mod adds something like it. Sims will get jobs, get married have children and gave affairs and get divorced. Not true story progression but it makes the game game feel a lot more alive, especially along with Slice of Life, Life Decider, Meaningful Stories and Life's Dramas.
