Once I'm comfortable playing without cheats, I see no reason not to use them to make things more fun. I can work my way out of Sim-homelessness. I can raise 7 toddlers at once with only one adult Sim. I can and I have.
So maybe now I want to use the money cheat to start off a millionaire. Maybe I feel like my Sims have worked too hard to be living in a tiny apartment, so I cheat to let them buy a nice house. (And maybe I write down how much I spent so I can make them pay for it like a home loan.) When I start a new save, I get things all set up and sometimes that involves giving someone a certain career. Every once in a while I do a rags to riches type thing with no cheats so that I really appreciate them... and to remind myself that I can.
