I guess many of us are immune to this sort of thing. I personally love horror and sci-fi.
I don't really play the happy happy joy joy in my games.

No, neither do I; I just like safe, normal everyday life for my sims.
All I'm getting from this at the moment is a vague Shaun of the Dead vibe, just without the humour.

It's on my (very long) list of films I want to see and still haven't. I never get the time.

I know a few of my friends aren't a fan of this type of thing at all, and get rather panick-y about the idea and so plan to not purchase the pack.

It is now confirmed that there is a way to turn off the infection if you don't want it in your game. We've also been told that the infection is contained to the liveable world of StrangerVille. Hopefully these two things will help some people, for example if they want the CAS or Build/Buy items but don't want to 'strange-ness'.

But I get what you're coming from. A lot of people enjoy the sims for the escapism. The "pleasant, safe, happy stuff" the sims is known for. While of course some enjoy occult and darker themes (like a lot of people who are excited about the potential cult-like aspect in the new GP, the darker types of mods like murder etc), I know plenty of simmers who enjoy distancing themselves from this, only having happy and positive themes in the game.

A lot of people refer to the facial expression the sims have been wearing as creepy, and even I didn't enjoy the contorted scene of the sim's joints. A lot of people are choosing to avoid the pack due to not liking the themes in it, and a lot of people can't wait for its release.

I think all the opinions are valid, everyone has their personal interests and disinterests, and different people have different things that creep them out. I'm glad that there's the customisation to opt out even if you get the pack, and of course, you can always not purchase the pack too.

I don't want anyone to think I'm going off on a rant against the pack; everyone's sharing their opinions so I thought I'd add mine.
I am happy to see the excitement from those who are looking forward to it, and I sincerely hope they enjoy the gameplay.

Interesting points I noted in your 2nd paragraph; I actually have the vampires GP, so my gameplay style isn't 100% normal everyday life (also, while I'm not a fan of occults in general, I just have a soft spot for vampires).

Honestly, Sims 4 has been far too happy-feely and safe and boring for quite too long, and while I can't say I'll like every bit of this pack, it's a weirdly welcomed change to something new and different, which people ask often for but when something new and different happens, it's not the new and different they wanted. All I could care most about in this pack is how well would this pack synergize with the rest of the game and its packs, regardless if you turned off the "Strange" or not.

I still have no plans on buying this pack, but I'm glad to see that the "what the....." can be disabled.
