I've never been able to cancel an abduction by X-ing it out in the queue. It seems to be uncancel-able for me. I can stop the abduction by resetting the Sim by shift clicking with testingcheats on, if they are still on the ground. Abductions never seem to happen if the Sim is asleep by 9 or 10, so going to bed with the chickens might help, or burning the midnight oil if you want one?
As far as reactions go, the last one that really tripped my trigger was when the wife of a Sim couple decided to divorce her dastardly cheating spouse. His mother, a decent Sim, was in the room when she told him (oops), and his mother became Sad as well. Bring it on, Sims Team, bring it on.
