Sulani - silent nature?

So, I grabbed Island Living and have lots of fun getting to know some of the local families and creating a backstory to them and their community. However, one detail is bothering me - the silence.

In Selvadorada the wild birds and animals can be heard. They add a lot to the feeling of being in a different location. In Sulani it is totally silent - day and night. I only hear sounds from a few water falls if I go close enough.

Is this tropical place meant to be totally silent, or is my game ignoring some sound files? It feels like something is missing...
  • The silence has been bothering me a lot. Thank you for bringing this up!
  • There is a problem. Having been to Hawaii twice can verify there will be at least bird & animal sounds. The Sulani 'world' is small, so you should hear the ocean at most lots as well.
  • It's always bothered me how little ambient noise there is in the game.. It's just so quiet.

I've found that it seems to be infinitely better with headphones, it's just totally silent on speaker but atleast you get some noise if you have headphones in. But even then it's still very quiet, I always end up putting speakers around to give some life to the place.

Nature is actually fairly quiet where I live, so it seemed normal to me. But now that you mention it, it would be fun to have tropical bird sounds.

  • I play Sulani most of the time and the ambience is pretty much not there. It's beautiful looking though.
  • I hadn't noticed this at all! I don't really like background sounds in my game though - I have to turn off all the music etc too. So I'm quite relieved there isn't constant sound from the environment that I can't control, I think it would drive me bonkers!
  • I'm not wanting constant background noise and I find it ok that Sulani has less bg noise than Selvadorade which seems more lush and where sounds probably carry longer. But I miss the random sound at least from birds. I see some group of birds moving occasionally and find it strange that they leave no sound at all. It would also add to the tropical feeling if there was a tender sound, especially in night - I don't know if there are cicadas in this zone of the world, but something similar would be good. I read that cicada can be heard on a distance up to 800 meters, so it would only take one single, centrally positioned insect to fill Sulani, LOL! :)

If your sims are swimming in the deep ocean you can hear whales.
