I have my sims craft pots and planters for them because the rough wood looks better in the island setting than the more finished buyable pots. I also try to grow mainly tropical or warm weather plants in my sims’ gardens to keep the immersion going, like avocado, grapes, lemon, plantain, bird of paradise flowers (as well as the native plants).
I will remove the wooden planter boxes before I dismantle the green house, then. But, I intend on growing normal vegetables, herbs and fruits, plus some of the exotic ones found on the island when I get my Sims over there. Right now, they're still teens, but they have promised themselves to each other. It's getting serious. :)
