My sim has a thriving garden on an off-the-grid beach lot. I have some issues with the off-the-grid trait, but gardening isn't one of them. She is able to water and tend the plants normally. She's got an area of fruits, vegetables, and herbs and they're not all exotic either. Everything has been out of doors though.
