Swimming in the ocean and fitness question.

Swimming in the ocean definitely increases a Sim's fitness, but it doesn't seem to be helping them lose weight. if I'm not mistaken, in swimming pools, only "swim laps" increases fitness and causes weight loss. But there is no "swim laps" in the ocean. "Swim here" and "swim around" in the ocean definitely ups the fitness, but no weight loss. Is this a bug?

I was reading somewhere on this forum where they were talking about this same issue. I don't recall exactly where, but only mentioning this because others have noticed this as well.
