Switching Lot Types

Until we have multi use lots I’m thinking about just changing the lot type as needed. Wondering if anyone has ever done this before and if it will mess things up.

Currently I have a lot that is set to restaurant (functions more as a cafe). Then there is a non functioning clothing store beside and I’m going to put a bar upstairs. Obviously I can’t have all these things work at once so I’m thinking about changing the lot type to bar or restaurant when I need them to work as such.
the only thing I can think will really get messed up is I’ll lose my custom menu every time. To solve for this I might just make it a cafe full time (block off the restaurant and remove the host booth.

Thoughts?

What really helps me is LittleMsSam's Auto Employee mod! With this mod you can choose to have the game spawn bartenders, vendors, nannies or performers. I use it for things like a working bar at pool lots for example. Must be one of my most favorite mods!

Some game items even work well without mods. The spa items for example also spawn workers like yoga teachers or massage therapists when placed on a gym lot.

This mod is a dream, I use it on every single communal lot I have. However, there is a limit to how many vendors spawn at once, so keep it within reason. The link above goes straight to Curseforge, which you might need to  sign into or download for it to work. If you don't want to use Curseforge LittleMsSam has a webpage where you can download all her mods as well (just google her and you'll find it).

As for changing lot types it does work, and I have done it, but it is a bit annoying. The mod is a much better way, or using items that works as suggested above.

  • You can add a bar to restaurant lots and it will summon a bartender. With restaurants you need to keep in mind that any table will be considered as restaurant table, so if you plan to also add a bar, either don't add dining tables to it, or build it in such a way that waiters can access it easily. For clothes shopping experience you can use the clothes rack that came with Highschool pack that goes with bubble tea shops. Sims can shop from it regardless of which lot type you place it on. You can also set up a fast food type restaurant using community space lot type and University cafeteria. You can also add sales table and painting sales boards, and the highschool clothing rack, and maybe another food stand as well.
