Taking a break….

After a while we all do. Currently, I'm trying to get back into it, but not having much luck in my interest in it.

Yes…… I don’t play sims 4 everyday ( or even get on my computer everyday ) like I used to. And sometimes I will go in to build, or go into make sims, or change townies clothes, or cruise the gallery rather than actually play.

I think most of us do. Sometimes it's boredom, sometimes RL gets in the way. I recently took about a 3 month break where I didn't play or even come to the forums because of health issues with my sister and me. Not COVID thank God, but she got shingles, which is beyond miserable, then I got a case of bronchitis that seemed to take forever to shake. I don't play any other games, so when I'm on a break I mainly catch up on books I want to read and TV shows and movies I want to see.

Same here, their recent updates have been a bit too much for me to deal with and their last expansion pack did not last long for me. I think the main issue is that it feels like everything is repeating, which is probably common when you have played the game for a long time... but it doesn't help that some game features doesn't feel developed or are not very engaging at all.

The amount of support and development is not enough right now for me to feel like buying anything more for this game either... I have always played other games besides the sims 4 but now I will probably look more into playing even more different games.

If EA/Maxis thinks that shipping a game changing feature like wants and fears without checking if they can be turned off and also releasing an expansion pack where the gameplay for the main feature, attending high school, consists of me watching my sims not doing much more than just looking at the teacher counts as gameplay is okay then I don't know what to tell them.

I haven't actually "played" with it for months. All this tampering with my Sims got me down. I only build houses in it when I do open it up now, rarely.

I'm rarely in the need to take a break camp. I do take breaks to focus on my other interests. Or like now when I'm forced to because of a move. I'm in Maryland and my laptop is in North Carolina. But we'll soon be reunited. ?

I've had times where I get a bit bored with the gameplay so I'll spend time creating sims or in build mode creating and modifying lots. That's the beauty of this game, if one aspect becomes boring I have other things I can do that keep my interest. I always feel like there's something to do. I used to play a lot of games until I really got into TS3 and I've been pretty much Sims only ever since. When I really want to do something other than the Sims I like to browse through the Apple App Store and pickup free games, little time wasters.

Of course. I can't imagine that anyone could play anything constantly for the rest of their lives.
I've always taken breaks but never out of boredom. Just to keep from getting consumed by the sims because it's really addictive. Also as much as I love it everything is so virtual, I long to touch or do "real" things as well. I'm actually on a sims break myself at the moment. I was taking a break regardless but the wave of negativity in the sims community has inspired me to step away and raise my vibrations with light and positivity. So I've been really enjoying taking time up with my other hobbies,getting other important things done, and taking advantage of the nice weather before winter settles upon us. Also being away from social media to focus on meditation and music.
I think breaks are healthy. ?

I'm right there with you. If I take breaks, sometimes it's during a gaming session, where I'll save, then squish the game using the Windows key on my keyboard. I might take a look at my emails, trying to keep the tide of them stemmed, or I do a bit of genealogy before going back to the game. Today, this morning, I have to take a break to babysit seven of my thirteen grandchildren. :open_mouth: , three-year-old twins, included. My Sims were left on the end of Sunday in my game. I do believe their Second Term starts on Monday, or very soon. Anxious to get back to the Third Term, where I was when I discovered there was no clear way to remove the Festering Grudge Erik's fiancée had against him. :open_mouth: That's no way to head into a marriage.

I can at times feel no interest in running the game, but because I also run my own "game" on my blog/website, with tons of detailed background info, there is always something for me to do without really playing. I probably play the game only half the time I focus on my sims. So, I think it's healthy taking a break from the game and do something totally different, or do some planning or cleaning up in the Screenshots folder, etc. When ding something else, you will probably find new inspiration :)
