Wanna guess sim identities the "The Masked Singer" way?
I'm thrilled to share some fun and interactive sim entertainment for the upcoming Winter season! While it is meant as a pretty cool contribution involving community, announcing it also means point of no return. It's a project that I will need to spend a great deal of time on regardless of unforeseen RL events. It feel a bit scary saying "GO!". Ever since TS1 I ran various projects tough, so I think I'll find ways no matter what. Hopefully the community will enjoy and all will proceed as planned :)

"The Bagged Talent" is a series of weekly shows where you can guess and vote. The 8 bagged contenders are mostly premades to make it possible for everyone to guess identities. If you own some packs there will most likely be a few that you might recognize. You can guess on their Location, and Hints are given as we go. Based on votes the contenders must unbag and leave the show. Yupp, it's kind of based on a mix of "The Masked Singer" and "... got Talent". Basically the idea was to focus on singing only, but then I reckoned there would be too many copyright issues, so I tried to find ways to avoid just that. Instead the shows focus on various in game skills.
In each show the contenders will perform a certain talent. Seeing who succeeds and who fails as well as how they move, might give you valuable clues, but there will also be specific Hints. Those Hints might be a bit tricky to understand - so I'll explain them below. I reckon a piece of paper for taking notes might be a smart strategy :)
There will be 6 shows, hopefully released on Sundays starting on December 4th 2022 and ending on January 8th 2023.
This might also trigger some discussion on EAs premades in general (majority of the contenders are premades), the flexibility and building of skills and other game details. Anyone who won't bother to debate or guess, might still find some entertainment through the Winter season :)
I will post here frequently during those 6 weeks, but I will not comment on any guessing. We'll leave that for the next show to reveal the truth. There might also be some posts about this all on my blog, but nothing that you will need to read to participate. Anything of importance will be posted in this thread, and you can of course also ask if something is a bit unclear.
Contenders
The contenders are named Mester Mellow, The Knight, The Alien, Happy, The Flirty, Long Gone, The Duchess, and The Enraged.
Majority of the 8 contenders are EA premades, and they origin from various packs. So, without stating exactly how many they are, there will be minimum 5 premades out of 8 contenders. Those not being EA premades are sims from my game, that you might recognize if you followed my blog or videos.
Keep in mind that a premade sim in my game might differ a bit from the same premade sim in your game. They might have aged, moved to another world, built different skills and got themselves a different career etc. I don't think I ever adjusted a premade sim's physical appearance, though. My sims did not change that much and even if say a trait was replaced and skills obviously built differently, I think you will be able to spot them - a few quite easily, even :)
All my sims are listed on my online Residents Registry, with addresses, traits, careers and favorite colors even - but unless you are extremely nerdy and interested, I suggest you just guess and vote based on the shows :)
Voting
You can vote for the contenders that you like to stay in the show - up to two favorites per show (3 favorites for the opening show).
Voting is open 72 hours after each show, and must be done as a comment - simply type the character name(s) - under each video (or in this thread if you can't comment on Youtube). When in doubt I will accept grey zone votes, but 3 full days should be enough and I will need the remaining time for completing the next weekly show.
It would be boring if you could simply check the result by counting those video votes, so the contender's score will not be based on votes alone.
Here is how score gets calculated:
After each voting, I will throw 2 dices per contender. Each vote will provide for one extra dice thrown. The score is the totals from those dices. Say a contender gets 3 votes, the dice will be thrown 5 times total. It can result in anything between 5 and 30 points, so the suspense will still be there for the next show, although many votes will probably save the contender from being unbagged. And that is the most important, at least in the first shows.
Score will be reset after each show. Previous score will make a difference only if two contenders have the same new score. For the very last round with just 2 contenders left, there is no time for voting and previous scores will be added to pick the winner - no dices for that last fight.
How well they perform their talent (or lack thereof) might trigger votes, but you might also like a contender to stay for other reasons. Those not getting votes will be more likely to leave the show.
Because real time voting is not possible, there will be no exit in the 1st show. For the same reason there will be no voting during the 6th (last) show.
The clues to look for
There will be new clues in each show, they are referred to as either LOCATION or HINT.
Location is the world where the contender lives.
Hint is a detail like one favored item, top skill, a trait or a color etc.
A panel of 2 sims (not premades, but famous in my game) will try to sort out Locations an Hints - and they must guess the identity of the contender being unbagged. They will of course not always be correct :)
Both Location and Hint are captured in an 8 seconds long intro clip per contender. The challenge is that only one of them is true, while the other is false.
Tip: When you manage to pin the contender's correct Location, it gets easier to know what Hints are true. Each contender will alter between 2 possible Locations, so in some cases you might be able to decide after just 2 shows.
Please ask if you have any questions. We've got a full week for warming up :)
