I remember the option to sunbathe on a towel only came after installing Island paradise. Same with building sandcastles on the beach and playing in the ocean.
Oh I thought it was seasons because sims can get tanned in seasons. Weird they added the towels afterwards

Some of the ocean interaction are from IP and some from Seasons. In the trailer for seasons you can see the splashing each other.
Sand castles I'm not sure. I saw a post from 2011 stating they can build sand castles .
