That would work! Then you could just age him back down to child. Or try this cheat...

I'm guessing because you mentioned puddles.
Or however they died. My ghost child "died" via laughter so it would have been

And so on. Carl's Sim 4 Guide has some AMAZING info

I tried to ambrosia whilst a child (just to see, fully expecting it not to work from our back and forth on here) &&&& to my surprise IT WORKED!
This was my first time having a child die and my first time trying to bring back any sim..
Insert backstory of how this happened:
First of all it's my NSB save so the names are slightly ridiculous -
Minding my own business sorting out my sims needs, building skills etc getting them ready and working on the things they'll need when i get to them - sending my sim butter to bed because she is tired... i hear the music and see the notification that butter is drowning...
I dash the cam to her and i'm like "OHHHH... what do i do now?!".. i know, i will get her twin brother popcorn to plead for her life - WINNER WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER - butter is back from the dead. Fantastic!
Popcorn then thinks it's a great time to go swimming (he is also tired &&&& just witnessed his sister die) .... and follows suit... "popcorn is drowning" - the mum tries to plead for his life and Grim is like "nope, i'm taking this one..." and that was that
In typical sims fashion, it all happened so fast! :|
