Forum Discussion

The downtown between updates is harming the game.

The lack of communication between the dev team and the community is disheartening. I can’t remember the last time there were actually teasers about the upcoming content?Short and even vague blog posts hinting at what’s to come wouldn’t take much effort to put out, and they would encourage the community to discuss what the packs could be and drum up excitement.

Yes, they announced 3 packs are coming out in the next 6 months. But how can people get excited about something we don’t know anything about? We have nothing to look forward too. For all we know, the stuff pack is another ‘dlc on top of dlc’ pack. They won’t even tell us the name until a few weeks before release.

It’s just sad when the forums are not engaging in anything because there isn’t anything to talk about until they decide to release a pack teaser. When there isn’t any updates to look forward to it’s hard to want to keep playing when you don’t know if any of the game-breaking glitches, bugs, and pathfinding issues will ever be fixed. New content is what keeps Sims 4 alive. What’s the incentive to keep playing when the devs go completely silent for months at a time, with no news of what’s to come?
  • @EnjoyfulSimmer No offense was intended. We were simply reminiscing about how different cars are now compared to what we drove in the past. :)
  • @Oldeseadogge I'll take being called interesting anytime. Thank you for the compliment. And thank you for your service to our country. Without the sacrifices made by men, and women, like yourself, we would not be enjoying the freedoms we have today. <3

I am enjoying Strangerville as a regular town now - so not bored with it at all. But I seriously need University so I can get back to some of my long time saves. I age my sims slowly - control all aging so a lot of time was invested in those Sims kids that are waiting to grow up.... sigh.

How well does that work? I have been thinking of buying Strangerville just for the new world and build/buy items. But I am really not into the pseudo zombie theme and I don’t want to deal with it.

Same with Get Famous- I think I read you can turn off the celebrity system, so I am considering that, too, for the same reasons.

But I am wondering if there are certain things that just can’t be avoided?

I want them to bring the online store back. So we can buy worlds, hair/clothes/furniture packs. And many items to be bought either separately or in bundles. That would be better than stuff packs to me @SheriSim57 :)

EA closed down the Salt lake Studio where the store was and the team that made the store stuff worked up until shortly before Sims 3 was finished . The store team - some were let go to other places to work at other companies or brought to EA to work on other games - so there is no more store studio or teams to make the content. Also the store team for Sim 3 made 4 of Sims 3's eps as well - Into the Future, University of lifelong learning, Supernatural, and Showtime.

I got chosen to test Showtime for the Salt Lake City team - they were a great bunch of devs. But the days of Sims stores sounds gone with no studio and no team to make the stuff. As for worlds - I also doubt that is possible as Sims 3 used a world build program (Sims 2 used Sims City 4, and Sims 1 used a 2 D Unity map program) - Sims 4 does not use a world or map building specific program. It uses a much more difficult free hand style with everything crafted individually - using a variety of different software tools that apparently are used to make the world as they build the ep more or less - so it apparently can't just be dropped in like previous worlds. It might also explain why it can't just take changes well after the ep is finished. It's much harder than previous worlds from the looks of it to do things to - which seems to explain why worlds requiring things like cars and usable water is so slow at coming to the game or allowing players to make world or even change neighbor off lot spaces.

Did you have the pleasure of meeting Alan Copeland? Then SimGuruCopeland.
