This has bothered me for a while and the recent makeup additions brought it to my attention again. The game's darker skintones (and some of the lightest ones too) have been disappointing since the beginning. Most of them are gray and ashy-looking and I exclusively use CC skintones for this reason. The very lightest skintones also tend to look very yellow. There's not that much base game makeup that looks good on a darker-skinned sim; the MAC blushes only have two or three shades that work, the rest are basically invisible. I didn't notice much difference with the extra skin tones that were patched in either. It's disappointing that EA acts focused on diversifying the game but this issue still hasn't been fixed.

Could part of the problem also be the game's annoyingly pervasive blue light?

I don't know if they know how to fix it though. I'd like to see a change but it's been like this for years.

i feel like i've never seen anyone irl with some of the undertones present in the darker end of the default skintones lmao

Yeah I noticed the game had a green/blue hue to it. I guess it makes sense since the whole Sims theme colors. My dad used to fix televisions and I would go to work with him, so only reason why I know weird things about screens like that. Electronic motherboards are really cool especially when fixed.

Yes, they look ashy, it makes sims look sick. Also some skin tones are orangey.

There are quite a lot of skin tones, but they somehow managed to only make a couple of them look okay.. It's quite a shame! It really bothers me too. The really light skin tones look off as well.

I actually downloaded a mod to remove the MAC makeup from CAS, because all my townies looked so ridiculous wearing those weird eyeliners. The MAC makeup update to me really is time and effort they could have spent on much better things.

I agree with what the above comments said about the darker skin tones. They look ashy and if you play with those Sims in game and they wear makeup, it doesn't look good. Not to mention that there were those weird box pixel shapes on darker tones.

I like the lipsticks, blushes, and eye shadows with it. Honestly rather have game balanced out more in other CAS sections than just heels and young adult female crop tops and short skirts and ripped jeans that all look the same. Got enough preppy school girl outfits as it is. I want more variety than the stereotypical suburbia look that looks like it came out of a Hallmark movie. I want gameplay and build mode not focused on just rich suburbs too. At least women my age use MAC products unlike the Moschino pack which no one can afford.

I feel the game has Matrix lighting.
Even many of the lighter skin tones have a sickly look to them.
The dark tones are ashy, the mid tones are often redish-orange, and the pales are greeny-yellow
