Yeah, I don't deny that men tend to get less CAS stuff than women... the funny thing is that men tend to be less obsessed with fashion in real life, and their real life clothes have less variety too.
However do you know what Sims 4 did to address this issue? They made it possible, for the first time, for any Sim to wear any clothes or hairstyle, without mods. Just turn off the gender choice and your guys can wear all the formal dresses they like. Plus there are quite a few choices that say they're for women but look just fine on men.
As for having a problem with all the clothes looking 'fashionable'... Well, that's something of a subjective thing.
However I definitely agree that there needs to be a lot more focus on catching up with more clothes for children and toddlers.
