Yeah, I get what you are saying... I tried to create 4 female sims and 4 male sims that looked like me and my relatives. The female sims have much more options in the clothing category, hair category, and accessory category... which is a problem in rl too.
For the hair, the stereotypical girl might wear her hair up, down, or put some accessory in it, where the stereotypical boy has shorter hair just sitting on his head (this is just where I live, I'm not including the rest of the world. I know this is false in other areas). Of course, females have dresses and men don't, which is... well, I've never really seen a man who wanted to wear a dress... but the formal wear in my opinion is lacking for men. All I want to put my sims in is a suit, but I never seem to find a good suit for my males. There are tons of possible female dresses, along with tons of shoes, but only a couple suit options. This really disappointed me.
While it is true that women are more likely to go crazy with their sims, and they do more often use females (in my opinion), it makes sense that female sims have more options, but there are always times when us girls want to use a male sim, or some men may want to create a unique sim... I agree that the limited options for men are bad.
Also, the toddlers/children are insanely limited. In my opinion, children want EVERYTHING when they're at a store. This sadly isn't a factor in the sims, and I hope it's changed in TS5 when that gets announced/realised (plz be soon?)
