Build mode because you build in it and live mode because you live in it. In my language it is called the mode of life so maybe that is why I read it as live mode :D

I've always called it "Live", as in "We're live and on the air...."But, I know that the Gurus and others call it live (as in you live there). That just sounds super weird to me, so I will probably never pronounce it that way.

well english ain't my first language but somehow i prefer to think "game is live" rather than "going to living mode"either way this problem is :sweat_smile:cause like technically if you said "live (concert)" in the middle of sentence in my language you would pronounce live like "living" but youd add the eso like :sweat_smile: regardless of which i choose...I just feel first one sounds more natural in english somehow

I call it live, as in "we're back live, and the Llamas are up 27-24..."Going into build mode is calling a timeout or cutting to commercial, and then you rejoin the live action.

I build in build mode. Sims live in live mode. This is almost like the “glass half full / glass half empty” question. I just don’t know which is which…? Although I don’t do half full. Ever heard of the magic of a top up? Keep that glass full at all times. I digress. I give my sims a way to live in live mode. I also give them a way to die…

I always thought of it as similar to "live coverage" or "live streaming" so to me it's live with a long "i" as in five.

I say live as in "five" because it's the right way. ?

I know the "official" way is the other, but it just sounds awkward and doesn't make sense. I mean, I'm not doing the living and Sims aren't actually alive but the game can go into a live (five) mode when leaving pause or build or CAS. It's like saying, "Aaaannnd action!" and everything goes into motion. And didn't Will Wright himself say that being the player was like being in the director's chair and the Sims were the actors? I feel like I read that somewhere.

So, sorry Will, but it makes more sense to call it live (five).

I pronounce it laheev (rhymes with five), but apparently the official pronunciation is liv (rhymes with give).

I never even thought about it until I first watched one of the videos related to some update or another. It took me a minute to understand what they were saying and at first thought it was garbled audio or something. Before that I had always pronounced it according to alive, as in not static or frozen in time as CAS and build mode are. Oh wait, I still pronounce it like that. The other way doesn't make sense to my brain. :tired_face:

I've always said "live rhymes with five" since TS1 days. I've not watched many livestreams, but I've heard the Guru's say "live rhymes with give" there, and it sounds strange to me. It doesn't roll quite so smoothly off the tounge. I'm also not a native English speaker, don't know if that matters.
