The purpose of Newcrest was?

To me it was just a slap to our faces. When people asked for more space they probably just meant bigger worlds. TS3 would give us amazing worlds that were big enogh for pre made families, some cool public lots and still gave us space for our own lots.

The sims GTW added a world with 4 lots... Two were used and the neighbourhood was extrmely tiny. Honestly i feel like they are mocking us.
