The robot head object - what does it do?

Hey simmers! I would like to know what does this thingy do? I kinda hoped it was going to be interactive but nope. Did I miss something? It seems like it does nothing. Except for nice surrounding, as the description says. I thought it was going to give my sim a boost in mechanic skill while repairing an object or something like that. What exactly is this for?
