I figured since I have a EA account with it and multiple packs previously bought I could easily just get Sims 4 on it…

Disable S mode. It's far more trouble than any "security" it provides, because it will only let you install apps through the Windows Store, rather than 3rd party sites like EA.
(This is a regular thing in my Cricut group, because the only way to get the Cricut app is from the Cricut site, which Windows S mode won't let you do.)
