I don't think buying it again will work. It's the app that's having the issue.
I had problems with the sims 4 and the sims medieval on my new desktop, windows 11. It came with Norton anti virus, if that in your computer get rid of it. I downloaded the EA app from EA's site and had problems getting either game to run in my computer and the EA app was installed but not installed. I think the Norton anti virus had something to do with that. The EA app wouldn't open the normal way, I had to open it from the control panel. (instead of uninstalling I double clicked to open it, the files were in my computer but the app was being weird.)
So I downloaded origin and ran it. I got the message that the EA app was the new game launcher and I let it install. That (origin) fixed the EA app and the sims 4 but not the sims medieval. I hope that makes sense and it fixes it for you.
