The Sims 4 annual review

Hello it's December, and had a thread last year reviewing the packs that year.

So

Okay to

Lovestruck This pack to me was mixed.

The world I like that mexican base ,but the world left a lot to be desired.

The features I feel like there wasn't enough to be a whole expansion.I feel like this could been reworked with idea from Wedding stories.Since Dating and marriage goes together.

The features I did like was the date feature.

The online dating fuction and turn on and turn offs

The romance skill the rest I hardly used and there is really nothing else.

Also we had no new venue for dates. All the lots the lounge, night club and gym we have in basegame.

Also where is the wedding venue?

And for update I dislike they made it all gender neutral to the terms and not let us choose what we to call sims relationship.

It small pet peeve I don't like refer my sims datings as romantic partners.I prefer boyfriend and girlfriend.

So I give love struck a 6.5

Life and Death

I prefer the expansion it had lot of stuff to do.I like the lore of the world. The ghost npcs  .

The grim career, the ghost tree, and bucket list.I like the funerals and wills. The cas is really nice. I like the macarb trait and skeptic trait.

I give 8/10

Kits

I liked all the kits this year.

The artist is perfect for my urban sims

Storybook is good for my vintage style nuseery Both are 5/5

The creator kits were a good addition.

I love the pajamas kit 5/5

And living room decor kit 4/5

Now for the updates.I am going to be honest I don't mind these events.I don't think it's makes the game a mobile game

Because other pc game have events too .I remember in boderlsnds they had event where you can get limited time weapons.

The first one I like the only downside it was not save by account 4/5

The refer event did not finished but it was alright.I am glad I can summon grim no problem now. 3/5

The cozy event like it seems more laid back.Yhe prizesrecipient. 4/5

For our winter update I like the Romanian outfits, hot chocolate tray and the new recipise.

So that was my year review.I like this year for the sims

  • Love Struck was my favorite EP of all this year but like you it fell short on some things.

1)Your cas sims don't ever see your other cas sims on Cupid's Corner.  I'm hoping this is a bug so Maxis can fix it with a patch. I've certainly mentioned it to TheSimsDirect on Twitter.

    2) Were still missing table proposals and kissing in bed.

I'm pretty happy with Life and Death.

  • I love the slumber party and the pool kit forget the name but it finally added pool waterfalls.

  • I have to admit I haven't spent much time with all this year's releases. I'm a slow player. 😁 But I do have plans for all of the content. With that in mind, my favorite would have to be Crystal Creations. Partly because that's the pack I've spent the most time on and partly because I love crafting in game, gardening, and retail. This pack allowed me to combine all three.

  • Crystal Creations: 6/10
Crafting, crystal trees and stuff are decently fun. The BB/CAS is incredibly solid. But the effects are so dull, like most of them don't even make a difference in-game. Very disappointing on that front.

    Lovestruck: 4/10
I was looking forward to this, since it seemed more fun and spicy. But nearly every idea it introduces falls flat for me.

The TOTO system isn't unique enough from the Compatibility system to justify its existence. I get that real-life social compatibility it different from romantic interests, but it's just another, similar system on top of the old one, that really should have been combined into one system for gameplay. TOTO is also missing a ton of options, like preferences for facial hair or occult status. On top of that, you have inconsistent sentiments between sims, where they could tell their partner that they're repulsive, but they're happy to be with them and will then autonomously kiss them - only to lose relationship satisfaction because they hate kissing.

The new dating system makes no sense. There's not much point to the new system when they cycle randomly and aren't as context-sensitive as the regular dating system. Having multiple different kinds of dates (Get to Know You, etc.) is pointless when they play exactly the same.

Online dating is worse than what we get from mods. It has a cooldown, is limited, the filters are poor, and Gallery functionality is suspect at best. Heck, I use Get Together's Club system because it's way better at filtering sims for me. I know some people can't/won't use mods, but they also deserve high-quality stuff if they're paying for it.

The axolotl system is annoying. We can't sell them? Why? To deliver a message about environmentalism and protecting animals? But you already let us take them out of the wild, put them in a tiny tank and treat them as objects. It's inconsistent.

Love the world. Too bad there's nothing to do in it. No way to embrace the culture in any meaningful way, or take advantage of the landmarks. All set dressing.

BB/CAS was very inconsistent and much of the clothes were baggy and unshapely.

    Kits: No/10
Maybe there were some good kits this year. I forgot if I bought any. I still feel like they're overpriced for what they offer, and that they make way too many.

    Life and Death: 7/10
One of the best Sims 4 packs. They FINALLY gave the world some fun and unique activities to do. There are fun new systems in play, and there are consequences to your actions. BB/CAS are hit or miss, but mostly hit.

Still have my fair share of complaints, like how the reaper career can cull sims from your game without telling you. Or how the festivals are some of the worst we've seen in the game. But overall, it's a solid pack.

Between all the battle pass stuff, subpar packs, continued Kit assault, and losing all my saves, mods and files, I really feel disheartened with the Sims. I probably won't continue playing into 2025.
