Those little stone buildings/stables with the blacked out doorway clearly aren't actual buildings so my guess is the animals are tied to them. I think they cows and llamas will be objects and you'll have to have 1 stable per animal. That's just what I'm gathering. And I agree, the buildings are a very specific style so they will most likely look out of place in most other worlds.
