I feel like this is going to be a repeat of a lot of people's opinions, but I want to throw mine out there after playing for 6+ hours now.
I dislike:
- the lack of toddler; I know a lot of people find them to be annoying but I feel as though removing them completely from the game removes a certain amount of realism that I've come to love. It is just odd to start out as an infant and then suddenly become a child one day.
- lack of pools; not a HUGE issue for me, personally I didn't use pools often with my sims but it was a nice option to add aesthetics to a build.
- The inability to control sims once you send one sim to a different location
- The lack of cars and dishwashers; these are things also are mainly used for aesthetic purposes but I do miss them. I will be very annoyed if future EPs include any of the above mentioned items because I feel as though these should be things included in the base game.
- Too many graphics issues; I myself am getting mutated babies along with HUNDREDS (if not more) of other people. I could understand if a small percentage of people where having graphics card issues but the vast majority are and I think this is something that should have been caught in the game development phase. Especially since a lot of people with newer cards/computers are experiencing the problems.
-I feel as though too much time is being spent on basic function; every time I turn around I feel like I'm feeding my sims or sending it to the bathroom. This goes back to what other's have said... that time is moving too quickly and thus you just do not have a lot of time in a day to accomplish much. My sims that work spend their work days working, and are lucky to eat and relieve themselves before bed.
- Inability to customize; I feel like a HUGE step has been taken back removing the ability to choose whichever color/pattern I'd like to use on an item, as well as hair/makeup. It feels too pre-set at static. It has a feeling of playing a game on my iphone which I do not like at all
- Lack of content; I feel as though Sims 4 released with the least amount of in game content. Whether it be hair/clothes/items.
What I like:
- Multitasking; not much to say here... its a great ingratiation and something I've been looking forward to for years.
- Pregnancy; I am SO glad that we can finally allow our sims to wear their everyday clothes whilst pregnant, and that we can even change their clothes while being pregnant. This is a fantastic incorporation. I also love being able to take a pregnancy test to find out if my Sim is pregnant, and the moodlet which tells me what trimester my sim is currently in.
- Babies; I haven't spent much time with them (because of the bugs) but I do enjoy the option to breast feed and the various other interactions included. From what I can see sims babies are quite cute again, unlike the pod-like babies from Sims 3. I'm excited to play with them when I finally resolve the issue with my babies in game.
- Smoothness/ease of playing; As a simmer who has been playing Sims games for 14+ years I have become very use to the way that Sims games are played. Sitting down with the Sims 4 was a little hit or miss at first, but I found after playing for a few hours that everything is very intuitive. From building homes to controlling sims. My game runs beautifully, with very little loading times.
- New Buy/Build mode; like I said before, it took me a while to get use to the new format, but now that I am I can see that everything is easy to find and use. I haven't had any issues with either modes thus far.
- CAS; I feel as though this is everyone's genuinely happy with the changes made in CAS.
Conclusion: I would see that I am happy with my purchase, but bitter about quite a few thing. I feel as though maybe I should have waited a few months for bugs to get worked out before buying the game. I feel as though there is a lot of work to be done, and that the overall game seemed a bit rushed. I feel as though as players we gave up a lot of content in order to have a smoother game. Which, I am okay with so long as the things we are missing are later integrated back into the game. I would recommend Sims 4 to my friend that have not played any Sims games before, as I think they would enjoy it greatly. However my friends that know and love the franchise, I perhaps wouldn't. It is the first game in the series that feels like something new entirely.
