What you liked
- I really enjoy how emotive the sims are. A lot of the romantic interactions (once you get there) are super adorable.
- Build mode is a completely new beast to me, but I like that I can just push and pull on the house and move rooms around if I need to rebuild it.
- I actually enjoy the smaller 'worlds'. I like that the neighborhoods are open world. It cuts down on lag and helps retains some of that open world feel from TS3.
- I like the multitasking and the cute interactions that come from it.
- I like the art style and the game is generally fun to play.
What you didn't like
- I'm finding that it seems like the needs are overtuned. They fall just a little too fast, and the sims insist on sleeping the minute their energy bar is in the yellow. It's really frustrating when the sims stop what they're doing just to go nap for four hours.
- The above might be because the game runs significantly faster than the TS3 and I'm used to days taking a good fifteen to twenty minutes, without lag spikes.
- Sims tend to just stop what they're doing and go do something else, which is really frustrating if your trying to get your sim to read from a book.
- Emotions get a bit over powering sometimes, and it's super hard to send my kids to school energized, even with taking a brisk shower fifteen minutes before they leave.
- The lack of cars or buses, even just as decor when they go to work is a little off putting. The sims just sort of go to the street and vanish.
- The dynamic lighting is nice, but the lights are no where near bright enough to make good use of it.
- This is nitpicky but, there aren't any colored hair for kids! My sims have green hair and their two kids have red and brown because there aren't any green (or any other dyed colors) for kids.
Suggestions?
- Tune down the motive drops. My sims should not be at half energy after four hours awake, or completely exhausted after going to work or school.
- I'd like the ability to set specific age lengths.
- I'd like the ability to set something like 'High' free will, instead of just "full" and "off".
- More color options. While I don't mind the lack of CASt, some of your color options are... really hard to match together.
Overall thoughts?
- I find the game to be really fun, but I seem to get super frustrated when all my sims want to do is sleep and not actually do anything I tell them too. It's a lot more micromanaging because if I don't, either the sims never stop playing chess or they don't do anything productive except watch TV and sleep. In TS3 I felt find leaving my sims to their business once I have them things to do. Here they're just a little too automous for me right now, especially when you get four or more sims in a house. Otherwise, I do enjoy the game and excited to see what expansions get released for it.
